Welcome to Florida!
Welcome to Florida, an American state which some people call the Sunshine State! It’s a place where the sun is almost always shining, and there are lots of beaches and fun theme parks where magical adventures happen every day!
About Florida
Florida is at the bottom of the United States of America, and it has the longest beaches you can imagine! It’s a land of fun and sun, with a big wetland park called the Everglades, where alligators and manatees live. There are also beautiful islands called the Florida Keys with pretty coral reefs under the water.
Florida’s geography
Florida is very special because it has so many different places to see. There’s the Everglades, a huge park filled with water and wildlife, and the Florida Keys, a bunch of islands that have the prettiest water and coolest fish. Florida is a playground for dolphins, turtles, and even pelicans!
What makes Florida super interesting
Florida is famous for being home to Walt Disney World. This a huge theme park where you can meet all your favourite characters and go on rides that make you feel like you’re in a fairy tale. There are also places like Universal Studios, where you can see how movies are made, and SeaWorld, where you can learn about ocean animals.
Where people live
People in Florida live in big cities with very tall buildings like Miami and Tampa and in small beach towns where they can see the ocean from their windows. Everyone loves the warm weather and being able to play outside all year long.
Language
Most people speak English in Florida, but many people also speak Spanish because they have family from places like Cuba and Puerto Rico. It’s fun to say “Hello” in English and “Hola” in Spanish!
Food
Florida has yummy seafood that comes from the ocean, like crabs and fish, but you’re in America, so you can get almost anything that you want! There’s a special pie called Key lime pie, which is sweet and tangy and made from the delicious limes that grow here!
Interesting things to see and do
Besides the amazing theme parks, you can visit a city called St. Augustine, the oldest city in the U.S., where you can feel like you’ve travelled back in time. Or you can go to the Kennedy Space Center, where astronauts get ready to fly to space! If you like playing in the water, the beaches of Florida are perfect for swimming and building sandcastles.
In Florida, every day feels like a holiday, and there are so many exciting things to see and do. Wouldn’t it be fun to watch a rocket launch or meet a real astronaut at the space center?
