Welcome to Greece!
Let’s go on an exciting trip to Greece, a land where amazing stories of gods and monsters from long ago come to life! It’s a place where you can see old ruins and beautiful seas all in one day!
About Greece
Greece is like a magical time machine! It’s where many of the stories of gods and ancient heroes that you hear about were born. People here started some of the first big ideas, like democracy, where everyone gets a say, and the Olympic Games, where athletes from all around the world compete.
Greece’s geography
Greece has so many islands—over two thousand! Each one is special, with some that are quiet and peaceful and others that are lively and full of parties. The beaches are sparkly, and the mountains reach up to touch the sky!
What makes Greece super interesting
Greece is full of stories! You can visit places like Delphi, where people used to think gods gave answers to big questions, and Olympia, where the first Olympic Games were held. Everywhere you look, there’s something exciting to learn about!
Where people live
People in Greece live in busy cities like Athens, where there are lots of things to see and do, and in small villages on the islands where life is slower and everybody knows each other. They love spending time with family and sharing meals.
Language
The language here is Greek. You can say “Kalimera” to greet someone in the morning, “Efharisto” to say thank you, and “Parakalo” for please. Have a go at speaking Greek!
Food
Greek food is yummy and made with things that grow and are made in Greece, like olives and feta cheese. You can try dishes like moussaka, which is like a lasagna but with eggplant (aubergine), or souvlaki, which are tasty grilled meat skewers. And don’t forget to try some Greek salad!
Interesting things to see and do
In Greece, you can explore ancient ruins like the mighty Parthenon in Athens or the old city of Knossos in Crete. You can swim in sea that’s as clear as glass or watch a sunset that paints the sky in colours you’ve never seen before! Imagine wearing a toga and standing where heroes stood long ago!
