Welcome to Majorca!

Majorca is the biggest of four Spanish Balearic Islands. The other ones are Ibiza, Menorca, and Formentera. The Balearic islands are in the Mediterranean Sea and have lovely beaches, clean waters, and lots of fun places to go on holiday.

Interesting geography

Majorca has tall mountains called the Tramuntana, but it has lots of great beaches too. It’s a place where lots of people enjoy going on holiday with their families, or grown-ups go if they like hiking or cycling.

What makes Majorca super interesting

Majorca is famous for its lovely hotels and resorts, its secret coves, and the city of Palma, where you can go and visit the beautiful Palma Cathedral and the ancient Arab Baths.

Where people live

People live all over the island, but most people have their houses in Palma. Smaller towns and villages are dotted all over the countryside, and life is more traditional there.

Language

Spanish and Catalan are both spoken here. Catalonia is a proud region of Spain. Knowing a few words like Hola (Hello), Gracias (Thank you), and Por favor (Please) can be helpful.

Food

People in Majorca eat a very healthy diet, with fresh seafood, olives, and fruit and vegetables. They also eat ensaimada, a sweet pastry, for a delicious treat. In hotels, you can eat anything you want!

Interesting things to see and do

If you’re in Majorca, you can visit the Caves of Drach or the Cap de Formentor lighthouse, which has amazing views. I would love to try some watersports too, would you?
