About Germany

Germany is in the middle of Europe and has lots of different kinds of places, interesting stories, and cool technology. There’s the magical Black Forest, which inspired favourite fairy tales, and busy cities like Berlin and Munich. Germany is a place where old and new things come together in exciting ways.

Germany’s geography

Germany has snowy mountains in the Alps and beaches by the North Sea. It’s famous for its beautiful forests and pretty rivers like the Rhine. Germany also has many old towns with traditional houses and cobblestone streets.

What makes Germany super interesting

Germany has fairytale castles, like Neuschwanstein Castle, which looks like it’s straight out of Disneyland! Germany also loves cars and makes some of the fastest and best cars in the world. Every year, people come to celebrate Oktoberfest, where they enjoy music, dancing, and eating yummy foods.

Where people live

People in Germany live in different kinds of places. Many live in big cities with lots of museums and shops, while others live in small villages in the countryside. In cities like Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich, there’s always something happening, like music concerts and football games.

Language

German is the language spoken in Germany. Easy words to remember are “Hallo” for hello, “Danke” for thank you, and “Auf Wiedersehen” for goodbye. German sounds really different from English, but it’s really fun to try!

Food

German food is really good. You can try pretzels, which are twisty breads, or sausages, which are called “bratwurst”. Another tasty thing to eat is “schnitzel”, a breaded and fried piece of meat. Don’t forget to try some delicious German chocolate cake!

Interesting things to see and do

Visit the magical Neuschwanstein Castle, explore the fun Deutsches Museum in Munich, or take a boat ride on the beautiful Rhine River. In winter, you can go skiing in the Alps or visit a traditional Christmas market, where you can find lots of toys and treats – and maybe Santa too!
